After weeks of rumors and leaks, Travis Scott has made his McDonald’s collaboration official. Taking to Twitter earlier today, the rapper announced the fast food partnership writing, “CACTUS JACK FOR MCDONALD’S,” alongside a photo of fries in the shape of the Cactus Jack face logo.
Scott’s favorite McDonald’s meal will be available for a limited time from September 8 to October 4 in participating locations, for carry-out, at the drive thru, and through the McDonald’s app. The order includes a Quarter Pounder with cheese, bacon, and lettuce; fries with BBQ sauce; and a Sprite.
It looks as though Scott is the first in a line-up of huge names tapped to partner with the fast food giant. In the memo, McDonald’s US chief marketing exec Morgan Flatley stated that the rapper is the “definition of big in culture.” He also added an analysis of Scott’s market value that not only feels a tad unsavory but extremely How Do you Do, Fellow Kids. “[He] will resonate and spark excitement with our youthful multicultural customers, and has a few surprises to delight our crew and ensure they are part of the excitement.”
Flately continued to wax lyrical about how Scott is a big fan of the brand’s “craveable, iconic food” (lol), but didn’t really divulge any info pertaining to what the collaboration would contain. So, naturally, the internet began to speculate.
When rumors first surfaced on Twitter, they were accompanied by images of potential apparel — staff uniforms, burger bun umbrellas, Cactus Jack shorts, and so forth. While these pieces are fine, they feel a little meh in comparison with the genius of Scott’s usual merch game, so with the link-up involving clothing, fingers crossed it’s not just the pieces you see above.
