Over the weekend, Novak Djokovic won his third consecutive Wimbledon title, defeating Matteo Berrettini in four sets. This is also Djokovic’s sixth overall win at the legendary British tournament. The championship is the tennis player’s 20th Grand Slam title, tying him with the elite company for the record that is now hared between him and Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Djokovic, having won other Grand Slam titles, has said that the Wimbledon win still ranks high in his list of accomplishments. The athlete has won the Australian Open nin times, the U.S. Open three times and twice at the French Open. Djokovic said, “Winning Wimbledon was always the big dream of mine when I was a kid and I have to remind myself how special this is and to not take this for granted. It’s a huge honor and a privilege.”

At the age of 34, Djokovic is now also the only man to win the first three major tournaments in one season. The previous tennis player to hold the record was Rod Laver who accomplished this feat back in 1969. Djokovic has his eyes set on sweeping all four Grand Slams, with hopes of coming out victorious at the U.S. Open in late August.
