Apple isn’t expected to announce its next iPhone until the fall, but that hasn’t stopped the tech world from speculating about the iPhone 12 since the iPhone 11 came out. As is virtually always the case, the new iPhone is one of the most anticipated announcements of the year, in any industry.
The Cupertino-based company will likely release four versions of the iPhone 12 this year. iPhone 12 concept
We’ve certainly seen no shortage of iPhone 12 concept imagery. Over a year ago, industrial designer Miloš Toman was one of the first to envision what the new iPhone would look like. Toman predicted an all-screen design, with the phone largely being constructed from steel and glass. Some reports have suggested the screen of the iPhone 12 will have no notch, while others expect the notch to remain.
Fast forward, and we found that the iPhone 12 could very well feature a boxy shape reminiscent of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5, as well as the iPad Pro. It could possibly incorporate Touch ID on the glass, a streamlined front-facing camera, and four individual lenses on the back with a flash in the middle.
iPhone 12 design
Many are expecting the iPhone 12 to somewhat resemble the iPhone 4 with its slab-sided design. The side of the iPhone 12 has also been envisioned with a bezel with beefier volume and lock controls. Leaked iPhone 12 schematics suggest as much.

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the new iPhone will also have a curved glass edge around the display, similar to the iPhone 11. Additional reports suggest the iPhone 12 will be thinner than the iPhone 11, coming in at 7.4mm thick in comparison to the 8.1mm iPhone 11 Pro Max. The boxier design of the iPhone 12 also falls in line with Apple’s more recent iPad Pro.

iPhone 12 camera
The camera is expected to be one of the major changes with the iPhone 12, with the main camera, telephoto lens, and front camera all being 12 megapixels. Two phones are rumored to have dual-lens camera systems, while two others will have triple-lens camera systems. The 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch models will likely feature two cameras on the back, with ultra-wide and wide-angle lenses.

The entire iPhone 12 lineup will likely feature OLED display technology. One will have a 5.4-inch OLED display, while two will have a 6.1-inch OLED display, and a fourth will have a 6.7-inch OLED display. To date, iPhones have included 60Hz displays, but the iPhone 12 is expected to feature 120Hz high refresh rate “ProMotion” displays.
The iPhone 12 models will seemingly utilize Apple’s A14 processor to be faster and more efficient while being powered by a 3210 mAh battery. The phones are also expected to boast 5G connectivity and support both versions of 5G: sub-6 GHz 5G and mmWave 5G. Lastly, the iPhone 12 will likely run on iOS 14 directly out of the box.

The entry-level iPhone 12 is expected to start at $699 — similar to the iPhone 11 — while the Pro and Pro Max are rumored at $999 and $1,099, respectively.
