Another Dubai suburb will be ready to explore next year…
A brand new Dubai suburb will be ready to explore by October 2020. Dubai Harbour, which is currently under construction on the stretch of water and beachfront in front of Al Sufouh, is set to open in time for the Expo 2020 celebrations next year.
First unveiled in 2017, Dubai Harbour will boast the largest yachting community hub in the Middle East with 1,100 berths in the marina.
If you’re still not entirely sure where Dubai Harbour (not to be confused with Dubai Creek Harbour) is, it’s to the left of the Palm Jumeirah as you look out at the ocean, and to the right of Skydive Dubai and Dubai Marina. You can see it under construction here, directly in front of The Westin Mina Seyahi:
Spread over 20 million square feet, the new neighbourhood is a development by Meraas, the company behind Bluewaters, City Walk, The Beach at JBR, the Last Exits, Boxpark and Outlet Village.
As well as being home to a super sized Marina, that will have the capacity to berth yachts of up to 160 metres, Dubai Harbour will boast a purpose built cruise terminal, shops, restaurants, cafés, luxury residences and hotels.
In the initial plans unveiled two years ago, renders also showed a striking Dubai Lighthouse, a 135-metre-high building that would feature a luxury hotel. However in the latest renders, it doesn’t appear as though this will form part of Dubai Harbour skyline any more.
