Just a few weeks after Sonia dropped her debut single “Joyride,” the songstress unveiled its ethereal music video on Thursday (Sept. 26), exclusively on Billboard.
The Elliott Sellers-directed clip features Sonia as she experiences the simple pleasures of nature with a lover in the lush Belgian scenery, including strolling through a forest, swimming in a placid lake and going for a “joyride” on a white horse. “When you come around I’ll be your/ Joy ride, you got me for the night, baby/ Joy ride, I know that I’ve been on your mind,” she sings, her airy vocals mirroring the dreamy landscape.
“I’m so excited to release my first video ever,” Sonia told Billboard. “It has been such a collaborative, beautiful learning experience expanding my creative ideas into visuals and bringing them to life. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!”
As for the meaning of the tune, that’s up to you. “This song is a personification of my demons and my dark side. It’s a poem. The lyrics are up for interpretation. There’s a certain sadness, vulnerability, and rawness to it.”
“Joyride” will be featured on Sonia’s upcoming EP. Watch the video below.
